2006 Beaux Freres The Beaux Pinot Noir. $80/bottle

2 bottles available. Oregon. Deep ruby/purple-tinged to the rim, with a sweet, ripe nose of black raspberry, kirsch, with some underbrush and spice notes. This is a very full-bodied, powerful style but also has a seamless integration of fruit, acidity, wood, tannin and alcohol. It's a beauty and can be drunk young, although we envision this wine hitting its peak in 5-7 years and lasting for 15-20.

Deep ruby/purple-colored, with a sweet nose of framboise, raspberries, garrigue, spice box, and earth, the wine is gorgeously concentrated, with low acidity, and very ripe but high tannins. The overall impression is one of opulence, generosity, and a sexy, hedonistic style of Chateauneuf du Pape that puts it among the very finest of the vintage. 2-3 years MINIMUM to hold, will hold up to 25 years.

Sweet and sappy on the palate, with noteworthy energy to its flavors of red berries, spices, minerals, tobacco and earth. Serious, ripe wine, finishing with firm tannic spine and very good aromatic persistence.

Italy. 96 Points WS. 3 bottles available. #63 Wine Spectator 100, 2007 "Manetti’s 2004 Flaccianello della Pieve (100% Sangiovese aged in 100% new oak) is simply stunning. Fresh and vibrant, it offers compelling aromatics and endless layers of fruit that develop in the glass, with superb length on the palate and gorgeous overall balance. Although it is still holding back much today, make no mistake about it, Flaccianello is one of Italy’s blue-chip wines and the 2004 is a profound vintage for this wine. In order to enjoy its full range of expression readers will have to wait at least another five years after which it will provide memorable drinking to age 25, perhaps longer.

This wine has put on considerable weight since last year. An exotic nose of spice box, soy, creme de cassis, chocolate, espresso, and various spices is followed by extravagant fruit on the attack, a voluptuous, medium to full-bodied palate, and a long, ripe, concentrated finish with the tannins well-concealed behind significant glycerin and concentration.
